More Afghan workers to be evacuated from Spain, families left behind

As a result of the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan, Spanish authorities have started a new evacuation operation to evacuate more Afghans and their families left behind.

According to reports in The Associated Press, Spain's defense ministry is working on an evacuation mission with the foreign ministry.

In order to protect the mission, the ministry declined to provide any more information, but Spanish news agency EFE reported that some 200 people would be evacuated via Pakistan.

Jose Albares, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Pakistan and Qatar last month in order to solicit their assistance in delivering children to Spain that were missing from the first airlift from Kabul.

During the chaotic days after the Taliban took over in August, Spain evacuated over 2,200 people, including Spaniards and Afghans.
